Christopher Mankowski has studied butoh extensively in Japan and beyond. He has taught and performed in the US, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Japan and Europe both individually and with an ensemble. He holds a BA in performance and an MA in clinical psychology. He is currently working on his dissertation and PhD in psychology, using butoh as a praxis through which to explore the embodiment of multiplicity and how it impacts one’s experience of authenticity. He apprenticed with ritual and movement guide Diego Pinon, for over 10 years.
